Flooding with Laughter!

Ok, spotted this on another gals blog and just had to share it all with you guys. Some of you who don't watch the news or read the internet don't know what is going on here in the Midwest. Well here's your update!
I can't get the video to embed here in my blog so you will have to go to the link. Enjoy.

Watch what you eat.

Everything in moderation is what my friend Sarah tells me.

So it's ok to have Chipotle maybe 2 times a week and a 3rd if it's absolutely necessary?

Salvaging

Julie and I spent a beautiful Wednesday morning digging through the thrift store and the architectural salvage store. Didn't make any large purchases by sure could have!

Julie, looking through all sorts of goodies!

I never get pictures of myself so I had to take one today.

Oooh, pretty glass door knobs!

Julie's so cute!

YUM!

Good old layered cake! I found a link to this patisserie this morning. Gosh it makes my mouth water looking through all the pictures.

Wouldn't it be fun to start up a quaint little one here? Been there done that, lots of hard work. The idea is wonderful but I don't know if I would really enjoy it after all. You get burnt out real easily. But... if you did it with people you enjoy it might not be so bad.

Collecting

BIKES!

My little bro just recently moved to the downtown area and so now we are able to get around to our favorite locations via bicycles.

Who wants to ride snobby new bikes when you can have cool bikes like these cruisers? Hmm? (ok, I admidt I do have a mountain bike in my garage for all those off roading occasions)
I found these two bikes above at Salvation Army on Wednesday, and then found this one below yesterday when Laurie and I were scouting the neighborhood trash for treasure.

Now all we need are some good old baskets on the front handlebars and we are ready to go! Gateway Market, Farmers Market, and any other sweet shopping excursions here we come. I am just not excited for riding up the steepest hill I have ever seen in my life to get back to his place.

Wednesday Night Events

Off to Omaha I went last night, me and several of my friends to see Sigur Ros. Oh gosh do I love Sigur Ros, especially in concert! I was sooo excited for this concert! Last I saw them was in Kansas City.

As we approached the Omaha region dark dark clouds were greeting us with tornado warnings blaring through the radio as well as the sirens. We decided right after we got into Omaha that it would be a good idea to get off the interstate, the sky looked sooo angry.

Of all places we could of got off the interstate at, we got off at the exit for the Rosenplat baseball stadium. We decided to see if we could take shelter there. What fun, we joined baseball security and sound equipment employees in their press room and had a ball (bahahahaha good joke Leslie!) goofing off helping the sound guys do sound checks and pretending we were baseball players/anchormen.
Jennifer, "OH NO, what are we going to do?"

Grant and Allison

Finally, the worst was over and back on the road we went. They postponed the show and we arrived about 10 minutes before the it started. THANK GOODNESS, we didn't miss anything!

It was wonderful! Not quite as wonderful as when I saw them last in Kansas City but still good.

STRANGE things!

I couldn't tell you what it is but it feels like there should be some reason why the second house fire has occured in my neighborhood as of two weeks ago.

We had a bad storm come through early Friday morning and I remember be startled to death by a very loud clap of thunder. I think I practically jumped out of my bed! I thought that ONE had to be really close! And it was, five houses down from me!

Strangely enough I didn't hear the fire trucks and no smell of smoke woke me up. I just was getting ready to leave for a weekend trip to Chicago and I opened up the garage door to see all the emergency vehicles in the street.

Lighting hit the house and started a fire in the basement. It doesn't look like it is a total loss unlike the other house, but it sure scares me. Maybe I should start sleeping with the fire extinguisher?

Update on the other house: Drove past Wednesday morning to find it being bulldozed down. Now it's a big empty hole.
